The Lodge is a great source for gifts for guys. Here are a few ideas that might show up on my list this year:
Greenpoint Key Ring ($):
Baxter Travel Set ($$):
Chester Wallace Duffel Bag ($$$$$+):
I also love Home State Apparel’s t-shirts. I got an Arkansas one for my husband a while back and it’s super soft and most importantly, he loves it! ($)
I also like these Personalized Retro Garage Signs from Plow & Hearth ($$$):
Need a stocking stuffer? Shave Secret ($) is not the most expensive shave oil (it’s super cheap!) but my husband swears it’s the best and it has a great scent too. It’s a 100% natural blend of essential oils and takes the place of all shave creams, soaps, gels, aftershave and moisturizing lotions. The fact that it is the brainchild of a recovering lawyer makes me love it even more.
The greatest gift I ever gave my husband was a Lionel train ($$$$+). I get him a new train car each year and setting it up has become a fun Christmas tradition. There are lots of great train sets to choose from at the Lionel Store.

These days I think there is a lot of value in simplifying. And while maybe another gadget does not sound like a way to simplify to you, there are some that really do make life easier. Here are some of my favorites this year:
Smartphone Photo Cube from the Sharper Image ($$$$+): No computer required, this little cube can print images right from a smartphone. So if you know someone who loves to take photos with a phone and never prints them out, this is the gift!
TV Wireless Headphones from the Sharper Image ($$$+): These headphones are perfect for anyone who is hard of hearing or who doesn’t want the baby to wake up to the soothing sounds of an action movie or football game.
If you know someone who already has a lot of gadgets, you can’t beat the Cordito Cord Organizer ($$). It’s perfect for travel and for home and comes in several colors.

I love these Wine Growlers from Fifty/Fifty ($). They are the perfect size for a bottle of wine and maintain constant temperature so cold white wine stays cold and red wine stays at the optimal temperature. Great for transporting a favorite wine to just about any outing (beach, camping, cook-out, party) they come in a variety of colors. Stocking stuffer?

Sticking with my back-to-school theme this month, I want to take this opportunity to share with all of you a really cool company started by my high school classmate Hayna and her husband Ben. They recently left careers and a life in Connecticut behind to return to Upstate New York near where we grew up and launch an organic personal care product company called On Hand Lotions. Here are some goodies that would make great gifts:
Organic Lotion Bar or Organic Lotion Stick ($): Convenient, portable and perfect for frequent travelers!
Another great product is a great gift for baby showers: Organic Baby Balm Stick ($)

There’s snow coming tomorrow but I’m hunting for beach-worthy gifts! The Fouta beach towel from Serena & Lily combines smooth cotton on one side with looped cotton terry on the other for added wicking. A great gift for anyone dreaming of summer. ($$)

Most people these days have to travel from time to time or all the time. But just because we have to leave that big bottle of perfume or cologne at home, doesn’t mean we have to go without. Roll-on perfumes and colognes are perfect for traveling because they are small and super portable. They make great stocking-stuffers too. Plus, it’s a great way to try new scents with minimal commitment. Check Sephora for a great selection.

I’m back with a few ideas for spring and summer travel…
Let’s start with an idea for the consummate traveler. There are a lot of reasons a great pair of noise-cancelling headphones are a good idea (screaming children, annoyingly loud conversations, etc.) for frequent travelers. Whether it’s silence, music or a podcast, your loved one can choose something pleasant to listen to even in unpleasant travel situations. Bose is a great place to start and worth every penny.
We are also fast-approaching honeymoon season. Looking for a little something to give them for the trip (note: we would have appreciated the noise-cancelling headphones on our flight but I digress)? How about a travel journal? It’s a great way to remember the places they stayed, the beaches they loved, the wineries they toured, etc. and it is fun to reread years later. Also, it makes reliving some of the highlights on a future trip a lot easier (this is a separate idea for those of you out there struggling for an anniversary gift: consider recreating a portion of your honeymoon). As you probably gathered from prior posts, I’m a big fan of Moleskin. But you can also find a lot of beautiful journals at your local Barnes & Noble.

Home-decorating? Wine? Cooking? Travel? Gardening? Books? Beer? Music? Moleskin has a Passion Book for everything. These classic little journals are a great way to organize and chronicle ideas and discoveries.
How about the Travel Passion Book for a shower gift so she can remember all the places they went and things they did on their honeymoon? Or the Baby Passion Book to track all the details of baby’s firsts?

You can never go wrong with Simon Pearce glass. It is all hand-blown and their bowls, vases and candlesticks are exquisite and timeless.
If you want to make a weekend of it, book a weekend at the Woodstock Inn in Woodstock, Vermont
then make your way to Simon Pearce in nearby Quechee, Vermont for a delicious meal at Simon Pearce’s restaurant overlooking the waterfalls and a little shopping.

If you’re trying to find a gift for someone who seems to have everything, consider an experience instead.
B&B Gift Certificate: I have often given gift certificates through bedandbreakfast.com which can be used at over 4,000 B&Bs. The best part is that the recipients can decide when and where to go. I checked out the participating B&Bs again recently and there is a real range of options, including some of the most well-known and luxurious. Bed & Breakfast Gift Certificate
Airfare: Another option is an airline gift card. Most airlines now offer gift cards than can be applied to any ticket purchase.
Cooking classes: For the chef (or aspiring chef) in your life, how about cooking classes? They are available anywhere and you can choose from group classes or personal instruction. If you want to make a weekend of it, consider something like the courses currently offered by the Hartstone Inn in Camden, Maine.
