When a package arrives at your door you know you’re not hoping for fruit, you’re praying for chocolate. Send others something they really want: brownies! I was the lucky recipient of a box of brownies from Silverland Bakery ($-$$) today and everyone in my office agreed they were (past tense because we ate them all before lunch) UNBELIEVABLE. Best breakfast ever. Silverland Bakery makes all of their decadent treats in small batches and their brownies combine melted dark chocolate liquor and a layer of semi-dark chocolate chips. They also offer S’Mores Cookie Tins ($$), which I don’t have to even try to love.

Today was my good friend Angie’s last day at our firm. And while I’m excited for her because she has the chance to pursue an amazing opportunity (for which she has worked very very hard), I’m sad for me because the daily grind will not be the same without her. I wanted to get her a little something to express how grateful I am that our paths crossed and my hope that we will remain good friends even if we can’t have coffee every Friday afternoon. I thought this necklace from ERiaDesigns said it perfectly. And as the saying goes about friends, some are silver and some are gold and in this case, you have your choice! ($)

Wall calendars are helpful at home, at the office, just about anywhere, but if you want to class it up a bit, check out Linnea Design Calendars. You can purchase a gift pack that includes a frame and you have a useful piece of art!

If you are looking for a baby shower idea or perhaps something that a group of friends of co-workers can give mom-to-be, consider giving books instead of gifts or cards. You can help start baby’s library and custom bookplates are a perfect way to give your well-wishes along with your favorite baby classic. Here are the bookplates my friend and I chose for a baby shower we hosted recently:

When a co-worker gives up the job, you don’t have to give up the friendship. If he or she is staying in town, find a coffee place in between your offices and get a gift certificate. On his or her last day give the gift certificate with your well-wishes and a recurring calendar appointment for coffee. You can change the time when the day comes to suit your schedules, but you’re more likely to go and keep in touch when you don’t have to remember to plan something.
