To start Christmas shopping. Here’s why:
1) It’s not about being an over-achiever and getting it done before anyone else, it’s about enjoying your holiday season!
2) You will come up with better, more thoughtful ideas if you give yourself a little time.
3) If you spread your shopping out over a couple of months, you can also spread out the expenses and hopefully avoid starting off the New Year with an enormous credit card bill.
4) Christmas morning is a lot of fun when you are excited about the gifts you got for everyone.
This is something I learned from my mother. She shops for Christmas presents year-round and it was always fun Christmas morning when we received gifts from places we had vacationed or something we had admired months before. When you see something that you think someone on your list would like, buy it. It doesn’t matter if it’s July. You’ll never remember it come December. Alternatively, if you don’t want to have to hide Christmas presents year-round (or remember where you hid them), make a list throughout the year so you have ideas at the ready.
